Those Kids

First day back to nannying for several weeks. First, we took off for our Africa trip (coming soon). Next, the week after we returned, both girls were at camp, which left me with nothing to do in the afternoons after working mornings in the bakery (very nice and productive). So I hadn't seen the girls in three weeks.

Jenna, age eight, was fascinated by my expanding belly. Last they saw me, I was showing, but a t-shirt covered everything up. Now, it's pretty apparent. I'm still small, but it's finally become clear that the bump on the front of me is not actually just a large meal. She kept running up to me and poking me in the stomach. At one point, she stood at my side with one hand on my back and put the other hand on my side, approximately where I used to end.

"Let's see, you used to be here --" at which point I interrupted, "Jenna! I was never that thick!" She looked up, startled, then decided to ignore me and looked back down. "But now you end here" -- placing her hand on my belly. "Which makes all this much the baby. Baby, you're huge!!"

That girl has almost no filter. She comes up with the weirdest things. Today, for example, while eating lunch, we somehow got on the topic of tattoos. I asserted that I would never get one, and she admitted that she had thought about it and had an idea for a tattoo.

"See, my mom will probably die before my dad will, so I'd like to get a picture of my mom all across my back."

!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, the things to look forward to.
