Actually, the last few weeks have basically been sponsored entirely by Eric.
Remember how I was sick? And how pregnant bodies don't work to make you unsick like normal bodies? Well, just now recovering over here. It's been very exciting. Here's the basic rundown of our last three weeks:
Struggle with a fever for a week. Cough for two weeks. I heard a lot of "Wenders, you just lost a lung on the floor. Would you like me to rinse it off for you?"
Every time I tried to go to work for two weeks, I got sent home. Eric's description of those weeks: "Well, Wendy pretty much just slept."
And... that's about it. I wrote out a longer, more detailed post describing all the sick... but decided nobody wanted to read that.
We did actually make a trip to Tucson for a weekend -- really low key, just visiting Eric's family and hanging out with them. They're great. They said all sorts of nice things to me, like, "go ahead and take a nap," and "drink as much tea as you want."
So while I was sleeping, Eric not only continued going to class full-time, he worked extra at his job to make up for my not working. He cleaned the entire house, including things like hand-washing all the crystal and dusting the spices on the spice rack. He fed me all sorts of tylenol. He bought me tissues. He made an entire gallon of his homemade roasted butternut-squash soup. He canceled our awesome Oktoberfest party we had planned -- for which he was so excited -- and didn't complain once. He watched While You Were Sleeping with me, actually, and didn't even comment on the irony. He assured me that my coughing all night didn't keep him awake. He drove me to the doctor. In fact, he drove most of the way to Tucson and back.
So this is why I've been a bit out of commission lately. I skipped, not only week 27, but week 28 and week 29 in the preggers photo-lineup. Somehow, I'm already two weeks into the third trimester. WHAT? Babies are sometimes born at this age. Not that I think Tiny will come early... but I'd better get some serious reading done in my "how-to-push-em-out" books.
At least I'm back now, right? I'll have all sorts of Tiny updates before you know it. For now, Tiny's just been kicking away, wondering why our schedule suddenly involves so little movement.
And even though I'm still stuffy and coughing, I'm almost back to normal, mostly thanks to the cough syrup with codeine that my doctor prescribed for me. Codeine is amazing. Even if my doctor handed the prescription to me with the words, "don't talk to your pharmacist when you pick it up. He'll just scare you by telling you it will hurt your baby. It won't hurt the baby. Also, you need to be able to sleep to get better." It's nice to have an honest doctor.
It's even better to have a loving, patient husband.
I hope you feel so much better soon!
