Another one of the most popular questions I've been hearing is, "So what foods are you craving?" As if the instant you become pregnant, you're expected to have odd desires to pair peanut butter and pickles. Which some pregnant ladies do.
I don't know, though... I haven't really been craving anything special. (Except for cheese and chocolate. But craving cheese and chocolate is a pretty natural state of being in this household, so there's no real pregnant-difference there.)
Perhaps it's because cravings typically come from your body telling you that you need more of a certain nutrient, like craving salad when you need sodium or craving steak when you need protein. We typically eat pretty well-rounded meals, not that we try or anything. We just like food.
But probably, my lack of food cravings comes from Eric's cooking.
One of the many reasons I love my husband is because he's a great cook. I love to cook myself, but if he's not around to motivate me, I tend get lazy. Meh, Eric's at a work event tonight. I'll have a bagel and some cheezits. Which is a bummer, because I love good food.
Though it was, indeed, my idea to have crepes for lunch on Sunday. Then I got lazy and suggested pancakes instead. Then Eric insisted that crepes were far superior. Which they are. And, despite the time commitment, which really isn't that bad, they are so easy to make. And so delicious. Again, Eric scores culinary points. And stubborn points. (But we've just stopped counting those in our house.)
We had some mascarpone whipped cream topping (from this recipe) leftover from the weekend, so we cooked down some apples with butter and nutmeg and cinnamon to pair with it. (Eric's idea.) Delicious.
We also topped some with lemon curd and raspberries, which is probably one of the best flavor combinations ever.
And, of course, nutella and raspberries. We're talking decadent here, people.
But wait! That's not all. Okay, so it was definitely all for Sunday. But Monday, I had a bit of a bummer day, so Eric decided to cheer me up. With food, naturally.
With grilled lobster tails brushed with butter-lemon-garlic. And with pasta tossed with tomatoes, truffle oil, and parmesan. And with a Belgian tripel for himself.
How did Tiny like all this, you say? Well, we've been eating slightly less decadently the rest of the week, to try to convince my intestines to resume equilibrium. You might say.
Totally worth it.
You would wear pearls while making crepes.
